DigitalC AND Famicos Foundation: Expanding Access, Strengthening Community

At DigitalC, every connection we make is about more than the internet; it’s about opportunity, access, and strengthening the communities we serve.

That’s why our partnership with Famicos Foundation is such an important step forward.

A Shared Mission

Famicos Foundation is a Cleveland-based nonprofit dedicated to improving quality of life across neighborhoods through housing stability, youth development, workforce opportunities, and community wellness. Their work focuses on meeting people where they are and helping them move forward, and that mission aligns closely with ours.

Together, we have partnered to bring high-speed home internet to two apartment communities across Cleveland.

Supporting Seniors with Free Internet Access

As part of this initiative, Famicos successfully secured grant funding from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to cover the cost of home internet for three months for 210 residents aged 50 and older.

With that in mind, we prioritized installation at senior living communities to ensure those who could benefit most received access first.

Milestones Along the Way

Our first installation at Glenhaven marked a major milestone—celebrating our 7,000th household connected.

From there, we moved to Steeplechase, continuing the momentum:

• Glenhaven: 33 units connected
• Steeplechase: 48 units connected
• Total so far: 81 households now have access to free internet for three months, followed by an ongoing affordable service at $18/month.

These numbers represent more than installations; they represent individuals who can now stay connected to loved ones, access telehealth services, explore online resources, and engage more fully with the world around them.

Digital Skilling Community Partners

Famicos Foundation has been a tremendous partner in helping DigitalC meet the digital skills training goals set by the City of Cleveland. Through our collaboration with Famicos and other community partners, DigitalC’s Click digital skilling team trained more than 10,000 Cleveland residents in 2025, bringing the total number of residents trains since January 2024 to more than 20,000.

Together, Famicos Foundation and DigitalC are working to expand access to both technology and training for local residents. This partnership supports learning in key areas such as digital readiness, financial literacy, employment resources, and other essential digital skills. In a fast-paced, technology-driven world, this kind of accessible education is critical to ensuring residents can stay informed, connected, and prepared for new opportunities.

What’s Next

The work doesn’t stop here.

Next in our partnership with Famicos is a plan to connect University Tower, where we will extend access even further and keep closing the digital divide in Cleveland.
